Social Media for Rescues: Jan 2022

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

And 'hello' from Accra, Ghana! After a bit of a break, I'm back in action and working away in the background of Dogs BOND. We did a tremendous job in 2021, overcoming so many of the challenges and finally getting our game into our forever homes! We did that together.

These are the upcoming global hashtags and trends that I hope will inspire some of our rescue partners in their content creation this month. If you see a day and a global hashtag that you want to use, go ahead! Let us contribute our likes, retweets, and shares to you - just tag us using @dogsbondgame on any of your posts!

CALL TO ACTION

Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter are still listing us as robots when we like/follow as many of the rescues as we do - so please like/follow us using your social media first so we can hit that "Follow Back" button.

MONTH & WEEKS OF JANUARY GLOBAL HASHTAGS

National Train Your Dog Month - An opportunity for us to renew our commitment among ourselves and our fur family members to be on better behavior for the coming year.

Walk Your Dog Month & Walk Your Pet Month - I don't know about you but I'm doing a lot more walking outside and trying to get steps in and some sunlight when I can! I'm taking out the dogs of my colleagues out and about with me!

Adopt a Rescued Bird Month - If you're a bird person, you're likely already a bird person. 2020 and 2021 had us all finding new ways to network; and we had to find new ways to cooperate! Hopefully we can find all rescue animals homes in 2022.

JANUARY DAY CELEBRATIONS & GLOBAL HASHTAGS

Jan 2: #NationalPetTravelSafetyDay - Something I've become more aware of living overseas is the ever evolving challenge of traveling safely with pets. Make a plan, and definitely have the right carriers ready to go!

Jan 5: #NationalBirdDay - Again, if you're a bird person then you're a bird person! Don't forget our feathered friends when talking about rescue. 🐦🐦🐦

Jan 13: #NationalStickerDay - Something we were proud of was the number of sticker sets we were able to get into the hands of our backers pretty early on in the process. Of course, for animal rescue there's an opportunity if you are selling stickers to mention it as a fundraiser for the day.

Jan 17: #BettyWhiteChallenge - It's been pretty well going around since news of Betty White's passing; but her challenge is that everyone should donate to a rescue organization to celebrate her life.

Jan 19: #NationalPopcornDay - Well, I dunno about you but I definitely knew a few dogs named Popcorn or who loved popcorn.

Jan 20: #GettingToKnowYourCustomersDay - this may seem arbitrary but it's important to engage the audiences and see if they'll share a little bit more about themselves. It can be a good way to foster discussion!

Jan 21: #NationalHuggingDay - Share a photo of yourself hugging a dog!

Jan 21: #SquirrelAppreciationDay - Well, we may not always love these critters, and our four-legged family members may be even less of fans. But it does always result in pretty funny stories

Jan 22: National Answer Your Cat's Questions Day - Yeah, I am not so sure a out this one either. However, this will give me a good chance to talk

Jan 24: #NationalPieDay - Maybe you give your pups pies?

Jan 24: #CommunityManagerAppreciationDay - I know how hard it is to try to come up with all of the community, social media, and content pieces! If you have someone doing it for your rescue, send them a little thank you using #CMAD!

Jan 24: #ChangeAPetsLifeDay - Well, this is easily a stand in for the Gotcha Day! What better thing to celebrate?

Jan 24: #NationalPeanutButterDay - There's one thing that I'm pretty sure all dogs can agree upon: they wish every day was National Peanut Butter Day!

Jan 25: #NationalPlanForAVacationDay - While our trips to far and away places or homes may be a bit on hold, there's always the roadtrip. And there are tons of animal friendly, dog-friendly hotels that are out there on the road!

Jan 28: #NationalFunAtWorkDay - It's still great whenever a dog or cat enters into my video conferences! So no matter what you're doing, it can definitely brighten up that conference call. Take a photo of your animal when you're in your conference call!

Whew! That's what I've found for this month's social media for rescue. I see tons of our partners are reading these so I'll keep it up until I run out!
