Dogs Bond Board Game

Several rescue partners have thanked us for putting together the content calendars and providing them in an easy, digestible format. The reason is that preparing your social media calendar early allows you to focus on the things that matter most - the animals. But a bit of preparation can save you a lot of headache and heartache down the line.

DECEMBER DAY CELEBRATIONS & GLOBAL HASHTAGS

Dec. 1: #CelebrateShelterPetsDayCelebrate this day by encouraging shelters to post adoption stories and available pets to commemorate the occasion, using the #CelebrateShelterPetsDay. This is also a good time to remind people that animals are not to be given as pets lightly. It is a lifelong commitment. Don't let this pass by.

Dec. 1: #NationalTwinWithYourDogDayPlan a twinning party at home for your family, friends and their dogs and get dressed up for the occasion. Get creative and make your own twinning accessories, post photos of you and your dog in your fabulous twinning outfits on social media.

Dec. 2: #NationalMuttDay - Let’s promote adoption, volunteering, and donation to animal shelters and show everyone that a dog’s individual personality matters more than their pedigree.

Dec. 9: #InternationalDayofVeterinaryMedicineThis day is celebrated by showing your veterinarian some extra love. Something as simple as a card to let them know how much their work means to you. Ask your vet for a top tip to share with the community

Dec. 10: #InternationalAnimalRightsDayThis holiday is shared with Human Rights Day, as it should be, because animals have the right to be treated with respect. Acts of cruelty against them need to end just as much as for humans. Write an article on animal rights for your local newspaper.

Dec. 15: #NationalCatHerdersDayHost a pizza party or an award ceremony, regardless of the event, celebrate your team efforts when goals are reached. Whether celebrating at work or home, appreciate everything accomplished in 2022, even small victories make you a champion.

Take yourself out for a meal, go shopping, buy your favorite ice cream. Whatever you want – today is the day to spend on you, enjoy you, appreciate you.

Dec. 21: #UnderdogdayUnderdogs inspire us, they remind us of our potential, they motivate us to get out there and make a difference in our life and the lives of others. Tell your underdog story, use #Underdogday

Dec. 24: #ChristmasEveChristmas has the power to reunite families and friends, warm up hearts, and remind us that we have so many things to be thankful for. So put up your cozy PJs, light up your fireplace, call your loved ones, and top off your hot cocoa with some fluffy marshmallows. Its Christmas season, chill with families and friends, play games together and dine together. Share some photos of your animals dressed up, or better yet when they open their presents.

Dec. 31: #NewYearsEve We all know that the end of the year will be celebrated with fireworks. Be extra careful and secure your animal at home. More animals are lost during this time than any other. While you're at home making sure your animal is safe and sound, let's play one last Dogs BOND for 2022 with families and friends, and share who wins.

That's what we've found for this upcoming month of December!

I'd love to get your thoughts, feedback, and of course ideas on how I might be able to build this into a greater resource for rescues! Have a great finish to 2022!

MONTH & WEEKS OF OCTOBER GLOBAL HASHTAGS

Oct. 2-8: #NationalWalkYourDogWeekDogs need plenty of exercise throughout the and the best way to keep them active is to take them for a regular walk. Let’s keep our furry friends healthy and happy in this week.

OCTOBER DAY CELEBRATIONS & GLOBAL HASHTAGS

Oct. 1: #NationalBlackDogDay - It's not a great fact, but black dogs often get left behind in shelters just because of the color of their fur. Helping to shine a light on Black Dog Syndrome in shelters, this day celebrates the often-overlooked black dogs looking for a forever home.

Oct. 2: #PoodleDay - Does Poodle Day have you pondering the prospect of welcoming a Poodle or Poodle mix into your heart and home? Look for a Poodle rescue in your area, as well as other area animal rescues and shelters. There are a surprising number or labradoodles, shizdoodles, and other poodle mixes that are in shelters.

Oct. 4: #WorldAnimalDay - To raise the status of animals in order to improve welfare standards is essentially the mission of Dogs BOND. Building the celebration of World Animal Day unites the animal welfare movement, mobilizing it into a global force to make the world a better place for all animals. Visit a zoo today

Oct. 12: #NationalPetObesityAwarenessDay - Pets come in all shapes and sizes, but sometimes sizes get a little out of hand. That’s why on this day we recognize NationalPetObesityAwarenessDay to remind people to keep their pets healthy. When your pooch starts getting a little plump, you know it’s time for a few things. More walks, less table scraps, and perhaps even an additional visit to the vet to make sure they’re ready for a weight loss regiment. Obesity in an animal can contribute to so many other hardships so make sure you're aware of what can be done.

Oct. 14: #VetNurseDay - Happy #VetNurseDay to all the nurses who are working day and night to save the lives of animals.

Oct. 15: #NationalFetchDay - Fetch may be one of the oldest bonding activities between dogs and their humans. Dogs love to fetch things. On grass, in water, down the hallway, most can’t get enough of the game. Playing it becomes its own reward and lowers the need for positive reinforcement through other means like treats. What are you throwing today?

Oct. 16: #GlobalCatDayDonate or volunteer to support a program near you. Help protect and control the cat population in your neighborhood in a humane way.

Oct. 21: #NationalPetsforVeteransDay - Pets for Vets helps create second chances & new beginnings for our heroes. These shelter dogs given a second chance at life are able to provide the Veteran with unconditional love and support.

Visit a shelter and offer to pay the adoption fee for a Veteran. Waive adoption fees for veterans. Collect dog/cat toys and donate them to a local shelter. Visit a VA facility and thank the Veterans.

Oct. 22: #NationalMakeaDogsDayThis day is a holiday that encourages people to show their pet a little bit of appreciation for all that they do. Dogs provide us with love, companionship, and security, all without asking anything from us in return. Some dogs are even working dogs that take care of the tasks that either people can’t do or is too dangerous for people to do. Surprise your pet with an experience and share how it goes with us!

Oct. 27: #NationalBlackCatDay - As unbelievable as this sounds, black cats are about half as likely to be adopted as other cats! This is silly but true. Show some love to a black cat or kitten by contacting your local animal shelter to find one in need of a good home.

Oct. 28: #PlushAnimalLoversDay - Plush Animals Day is a great opportunity for you to share your love of your favorite toy with the rest of the world. Try taking them to your Office, school or work-place or by giving your toy an extra special tea party all of their own.

Oct. 29: #NationalCatDay - A day to celebrate cats around the world, the incredible things about them and to encourage adoption as a first choice.

Oct. 30: #NationalTreatYourPetDay - A day to give your pets special treats for being a very good boy/girl. Encourage pet parents this day to treat their four-legged companions with delicious, nourishing snacks, extra love and attention.

Oct. 31: #Halloween - OK, you gotta show me some photos of your pups in costume.

That's what we've found for this upcoming month of October!

I'd love to get your thoughts, feedback, and of course ideas on how I might be able to build this into a greater resource for rescues! Have a great September!
